Be More Productive In 4 Steps - For Entrepreneurs at veonr blog by shubham kushwah

I value your time. Let's dive right in.

Here we will cover the 4 really easy steps to boost your productivity as an entrepreneur.

Table of contents

  1. Nourish a hobby
  2. Taking time off
  3. Sleep Better
  4. Unstructued fun time

1. Nourish a hobby

A fun fact - Nobel Prize winners have a 300% more chance of having a creative hobby than their peers.

Hobbies are definitely not a waste of time. Hobbies like:

  • Dancing
  • Running
  • Challenging your brain

are great for developing the cognitive function part of the brain.

Here are some advantages:

  • Hobbies are great for breaking out of mental barriers.
  • Getting out of creative blocks.
  • Improving your problem solving.

And even physically they help with:

  • Reducing blood pressure.

Here are a few pointers to have the perfect hobby:

  • Make sure it's completely unrelated from your regular work.
  • Make sure you're not going to go broke through your hobby.
  • It has to be unplanned and easy going.

Some people with interesting hobbies:

  • Galileo was able to identify shadows on the moon's surface - because he used to paint.
  • Albert Einstein used to play the violin.
  • Marie Curie absolutely loved cycling.

2. Taking time off

Are you that person who keeps on working day in and day out. Every single day of the week. Continuously for hours and hours without getting tired.

See the thing is. You're claiming to be working. But are your really "working". What I mean is - are you really getting things done?

Because what happens in a lot of cases is that people tend to overwork to the point where they stop thinking and their hands keep doing the job - almost subconsciously. And that really hurts productivity. You're not going to be putting our your best work out there with no breaks.

You have to take breaks. Go out for a while. Plan for a vacation. Because when you're out on the beach having a good time. It gives you enough time to relax your brain muscles and come back much stronger.

But you shouldn't just go anywhere. Make sure to plan it out properly. Factors like:

  • Where are you going?
  • Who are you going with?
  • Who are you meeting there?
  • What are you going to do there?
  • How are you going to get there?

Because you don't want to be stressed out because of the vacation. That's the last thing you want. You don't want to end up being pissed off completely because the flight got delayed and now you have to take the bus - for example.

Here are some fascinating facts:

  • Employees who stayed at home in the name of rest. Without going out for a vacation. Did not get enough relaxation and relief from the vacation time.

Ideally you should go out somewhere rather than planning to watch a movie at home.

  • People who went to a beach reported a higher productivity increase than those who went to busy places in cities.

  • People who travelled alone reported a lesser productivity boost - as compared to those who brought their kids with them or a friend.

This helps you get a better sense of connection with close friends and you're likely to have fun together by participating in fun activities like playing games etc.

This not only boosts productivity but also helps with your mental health and metabolism.

3. Sleep Better

Rest is an absolute necessity when it comes to being a creative person. This has been backed by researches as well.

A study was organized containing 2 groups of people.

Group A was told to engaged in REM sleep (REM means Rapid Eye Movement).

Group B was told to continue as they would normally.

Group A noticed a massive 32% boost in problem solving capabilities. And cognitive flexibility.

Researchers suggest that your brain continues to work even when you're dreaming. It keeps on solving problems while you're sleeping.

A study was conducted on a bunch of college students. And it was found that about 50% of the students would dream continuously about the topics they were spending their most amount of time on.

So a student who studies physics for 70% of his day. Would dream about physics in a highly likely scenario. That's really interesting.

And 25% of the students even claim to have found some answers to their problems - literally while asleep. That's crazy to think about.

4. Unstructued fun time

Now this sounds a bit weird - isn't it. Unstructured fun? Should you be spending time doing something that's not planned at all?

Yes. There are many studies that proved that once you are unstructured you are in a child like enthusiastic state of mind. And that really benefits your creative productivity.

A study on college students revealed that those who engaged in playing some sort of video games performed better in terms of productivity and creativity.

This is why big companies usually try to recommend having a big playground sort of room for their employees. Where they can hang out and chill for a while doing unplanned unstructured activities.

Conclusion

Hope this helps you 10x your productivity with 4 simple and easy steps. Not only will you be more productive - you will feel more creative and less tensed while at your daily work life.

Thanks for reading. Have a good one. Cheers!
